Philadelphia: I am writing from Adam’s place in Philly after our show at Chaplin’s with a great band from here (Infinien) that everyone should check out because they were amazing. As for me, I am trying to catch up with my blog here as well as finish writing some words for a couple new songs we are going to play tomorrow in Arlington. 4 hotel rooms on the horizon the next two nights.
NYC/New Jersey (Thanksgiving): What first? Had an unbelievable experience! Thanks to the Palmers for putting us up in Jersey for a couple of days, and for feeding us on Thanksgiving. I had a chance to walk around the city for about 8 hours (pizza, ice skating in the park, cold drizzle, warm hot chocolate, beautiful girl – Francesca, and big foggy city) and had a great time. After such a great day, Moth ball decided to fall apart due to a falty fuel pump and turn my quick drive to the city to an entire day of two tow rides and an unexpected train ride back to Jersey. Once I got back the turkey was cold, but still incredibly delicious (thanks Mrs. Palmer). Caught the end of the Broncos vs Giants game, played with Lance (Palmer’s dog), and then crashed.
Danbury: 1st time in Connecticut, in and out in 2 hours (but had a blast while there). Played a show at the Uncle and got a great response – thanks Danbury! Not much more to say simply because we drove from Boston that afternoon and into New Jersey that night.
Boston: The show went well at Asiana Fusion. I got a chance to catch up with my bud Tim from LA who is back in Boston (where he grew up) for awhile. Andrew Greene and Creepy Jones opened up the show and both sounded great, and were cool guys. As for now, I am writing from Marissa’s house (where we have been crashing) after catching up with all the Always Sunny and Office episodes I have missed. Thanks God for HULU!
Patwucket: We played Rhode Island last night and the place was very cool – Blackstone. Average size crowd, but the ones that were there seemed to enjoy it (I think!). As for me, I have been up to nothing grand other than checking out the city of Boston with my bud Tim, drinking a lot, and eating great food on a nightly basis. One downfall, I have been sleeping like shit lately…boo!
Boston (Day 2): Mainly just practicing at Damion’s friend’s space, and trying to add a song or two for the rest of the way. Eating some good food and just kind of hanging with the band and some Bostonians. Just got into the apartment that Ter and I will be staying at – Marissa’s place (from LA).
Boston: We are now safely in Boston and just ate an amazing burger at Damion’s friends – Pasquel and Stephanie. Just sitting in front of the fire watching television and typing away. Not much else to write so until later…
Stowe: The Matterhorn was very cool – large and full of great people, great beer, and great food! I recommend going there anytime you are in Stowe. As for the show – it went very well – we played with Dali’s again as well as Peanut Brittle (myspace.com/peanutbrittlesattelite) – both from Buffalo, NY. After the show I drank until it was time to pass out in the van for the ride back to Burlington. Woke up a bit early and went to the brewery tour in Burlington for Magic Hat beer where I got a great afternoon buzz going. After some football and a nap I find myself here typing to all of you about my last day or so. Time for bed!
Burlington: The weather has finally found us (rain). Got a chance to play with 5th Business last night and they not only kicked ass, but I got a chance to wear their cape on stage, which was nice. After 5th Business was Brother through Glass from Burlington as well and they were also cool guys. Didn’t get much of a chance to see the city yet, but we might stick around an extra day tomorrow after our show tonight in Stowe with Dali’s Ghost (Buffalo) weather permitting.
Montpelier via Burlington : I am writing from Ross’ computer here in Burlington because as I mentioned previously mine was stolen (if you live in Montreal please search for a Dell 17 Inspiron)! The show last night in Montpelier went well, Becky (bar manager) was awesome – so awesome I gave her a tour shirt (that she better wear!). As for tonight, we play at the Monkey House with 5th Business so we are trying to catch up from the robbery and get back on track.
Montreal : We cut this one short… Well, we were finally robbed! We had to cancel our show last night in Montreal (I am sorry Montreal) because we were robbed and they stole all of our computers and passports. We immediately drove out of Canada and are back in the states trying to re-establish this tour. Damion and Ter are at Best Buy and a music store recouping what was taken, and I am at the hotel lobby writing this. We are trying very hard to get everything reestablished on the music end so we don’t have to cancel any more shows, but as all our fans know, we use a computer live so losing this makes it very very difficult to get up and running again. Good news though, they did not take one of the stage computers, the mic bag, the keyboard, the guitar, or the drums (thank GOD!). I will write more once I find out more so those that were planning on attending our show in Montreal – we are very sorry! those of you planning on attending tonight in Montpelier – we are trying to get it together, I swear!
Ottawa (Day 2) : So, I am writing here from the hotel room down the street from the event tonight. Leaving in about 15 minutes for soundcheck with Modern Boys Modern Girls (yes, that band from Toronto). We will be playing at Algonquin College at the Observatory. Since last writing I have done very little other than drink and do laundry. Hopefully I will have more interesting things to write about after our show tonight!
Ottawa (Day 1) : arrived late last night to Ottawa and I am now writing in the morning. Finished off the 2 bottles of wine we were given in Barrie by Deb and her father (very cool people I might add!) with our housemates for the next couple dates – Thanks Kassie for the hook-up! Today’s gameplan – DAY OFF (can’t wait) – laundry, eat, sleep, catch up on the website – not in any particular order, but all must dos.
Kingston : Stopping here to eat and watch some NFL games. Leaving in a bit to finish up the trek from Toronto to Ottawa. The show with PH in Ottawa this Monday got canceled due to the “Swine Flu” so we will only be playing Tue at Algonquin and Montreal Wednesday at Green Room before the Canada leg is finished. Also, would like to say thanks to Mississauga for helping us sell the most merch at a show during this tour. Also, check out the Imports at Myspace.com/theImports – the band we played with last night (very kick ass cover of a RAM song). We should be in Ottawa in a couple of hours and at that point it’s rest time (finally).
Mississauga (Streetsville) : Queen St. again!? yes, every city so far in Canada has a Queen St. even Streetsville in which we are at a Starbucks for our daily internet access. Show last night with Modern Boys Modern Girls went well. I was probably more exhausted than I can remember being in a long while, but I caught up on a little sleep after the after party at the MBMG house. Briefly met a girl that came to see us, but she took off soon after unsuccessfully trying to talk to me while the 2nd band was playing (too loud to talk during) – not sure what I did!? Oh and I also found out MBMG will be playing a show with us in Ottawa at Algonquin College now as well. Oh did I mention how expensive Toronto is – $8.50 for a chicken sub at Subway (WHAT!) – I guess they don’t have the $5 footlong song
Toronto : I have finally found an internet connection (only 2 hours @ a nearby Starbucks) here in toronto. Just ate some very very hot (temperature wise) Hot and Sour soup in Kensington Market (China Town). Not a bad drive from London, seemed pretty short actually. Our show last night went ok – started an hour later than expected due to tech delays with Hue’s set, but most of the people stuck around to listen to us. Had my first Canadian Burrito which by the way tastes similar to an LA burrito! We are about an hour from sound check here in Toronto and I have so much to catch up on but I will check back in soon enough.
London : 2 down and 1 to go! Thought I would write before I take a quick nap. So far today we woke up early and drove to London,ON from Kitchener. Then, played a quick 5 song set at Grooves record store. Quickly headed over to Melissa’s pad to shower and drink some Chai tea…yum! Headed out to CHRW to play 3 acoustic versions of our songs Danse, 9-5, and 79 Aviatrix. Now we are at the venue we are playing tonight which is a very cool art co-op in the East Village. Looking forward to the pizza we are about to get, and from there the nap that I desperately need.
Kitchener : I am writing through a massive hang over (thanks Kevin!) but it was completely worth it. Met some great people, played at a great venue (Boathouse), and with great bands (Eatons, Rosewoods, Letterbox Black). Getting ready to leave for London, ON in about a half hour, but not before a plate of vegan blueberry pancakes made from the wonderful Sarah – who by the way is making us a bunch of amazing walrus patches in which we will be selling
Get them while they’re hot!
Entering Canada : We were entering at the same time as Dan Deacon (we had Mothball – our van) but they had about 20 people and a school bus – kind of made us seem minimal. Anyway, this was my first time in Canada so I figured I would do the tourist thing and head to the Falls – visually very cool and strong – dug it. From there we headed north to Barrie and played at Stix – great sound guy (cant remember his name, I feel like a cock for forgetting) and a great opening band (Last Names) www.myspace.com/thelastnamesrock. Now I am writing from Kitchener while drinking Brick Brewery’s Waterloo Dark with our new friends Sarah and Rob from their living space. Getting ready for our show tonight at the Boat House here in Kitchener.
Pittsburgh – Akron – Buffalo : I have included the 1st leg of the tour (pre Canada) because I fell behind trying to get this whole shebang going, but now that it is I will try very hard to keep updated. Pittsburgh we played at the Rex to a decent crowd (less than we wanted but I am not complaining) but with a great band <Ben Hardt and his Symphony> (www.myspace.com/benhardt). We played our Filter cover “Het Man Nice Shot” for the 1st time and it went well, we think! Then after a couple days of rehearsing we played in Akron – not much to be said about it other than we probably won’t be back! Buffalo – AMAZING (inside joke that a few new friends in Buffalo will get)! Loved every bit of it: crowd – awesome, theatre district – incredible, people (Ian, Brian, Courtney, Amanda, Justin, Ken, Tyler, and Lydia “Pancake,” and many more) – super cool! I want to thank the Loft and Nobody’s for putting on great shows for us! Also, make sure to check out Dali’s Ghost (they are bad ass!) – www.myspace.com/dalisghost
